In fact, as most of us know, many compositions work far better with portrait framing, but with most cameras you have to turn the camera 90В° to go vertical, and many (most!) cameras' controls are poorly designed and clumsy when vertically handheld. However, I've since found that it's no big deal. Like nearly all 6x4.5 cameras, native composition is portrait mode vice landscape, and I was hesitant at first to buy the camera because of that, wasn't sure I would take to it after so many years of 35mm film. I've only owned my RF645 for a couple of months, but I have thoroughly enjoying shooting with it. With a laser pointer I tested which steps caused its notorious 'slap' : mirror rising & shutter opening contributed surprisingly little, shutter closing and mirror lowering are by far the largest contributors to shake.Bronica RF645 6x4.5 Film Rangefinder Camera Its shutter shock is mostly a non-problem. I'm partial to the Pentax 6x7: heavy, but inexpensive and some of the lenses are excellent. Or at least made to be used on a sturdy tripod. The RB & RZ67 are basically studio cameras. Personally, I think an SLR is a lot more useful, especially if it has a focal plane shutter that allows you to use lenses that don't have shutters built-in. Even for 135 film, little rangefinder bodies are generally more expensive than SLRs, and then you've got things like Ken Rockwell saying the 7 is the 'world's best camera.' and a well-known, good, 43mm wide-angle lens (which doesn't really work with the viewfinder). The appeal of the Mamiya 7 is basically large format + small rangefinder body. There are lots of very good medium-format film cameras out there. Is it only because of the weight considerations or is the rz67 optically inferior. Not sure how g690 costs but the 50mm seems very hard to find, not sure how it's 65mm fares. The Fuji gењ†80 + 50mm lens + portrait (115 or 180 f3.2) looks just as tempting but I don't see them being discussed often. Any other good sharp,contrasty portrait + wide combo for the same system?ДЄlso open to alternatives other than rz67 for 6*7 or larger (there was a Fuji 6*9 but with a hard to find expensive 50mm lens) provided they are good and cheap. In the rz67 I'm thinking at 50/65mm + 210mm. When I was trying for the mamiya 7 I was into 43mm and 150mm lens. If the rz67 is good what are some models and lens to look out for. Not worried about weight since it would only be a special use camera. The mamiya 7 looked tempting until I saw the price (I could never justify such prices for something I wouldn't use much). I was looking at medium format film as hobby in addition to the a7 (siii/riii/iii) + some vintage lens combo.

Why are rz67 lenses so inexpensive (even less than the lens I'm picking for my digital full frame)? And while there is no 43mm lens like mamiya 7 there is still a very wide 50mm (not sure how good it is), and even if 50mm wasn't up to snuff there's a well regarded 65mm. I could pick up a 210 apo for the rz67 pretty cheap.
